Majorette is a French toy company that mostly creates tiny Die-cast scale models of cars, trucks, aeroplanes, and other vehicles, especially in 1:64 scale. Because Majorette is a typical 2.5-3 in (64-76 mm) size, it has occasionally been referred to as “the Matchbox of France.” Emile Véron, whose family previously developed Norev (the Véron family name spelled backwards), founded the business in 1961. Initially, the company went by the name “Rail-Route” and produced model trains and accessories. The first automobiles hit the market in 1964, and the name was changed to Majorette in 1967.
