They gave their device the name Tinkertoy and made a round wooden wheel with holes on all four sides that was sized for the accompanying sticks. Shop owners used elaborate store displays to successfully advertise the toy. At The Strong in Rochester, New York, Tinkertoys were admitted into the National Toy Hall of Fame in 1998. Hasbro purchased the Tinkertoy brand and currently manufactures both sets and components for Tinkertoy Classic (wood) and Tinkertoy Plastic.
